Should you take a "Virtual Host" or a "Virtual Server" package? To help you choose the
one best suited to your current needs, we explain the differences below. Remember, you
can always change from one package to any other package without incurring any "upgrade"
or other penalty fees. You will just change to paying the new price for the new
package.
Virtual Hosting
The "virtual host" is cheaper, because you share the resources
with other users: eg, the server software for Interchange, mail, ftp, web pages,
secure shell access, are all shared and therefore you are not able to change or customise
any configurations. Having said that, with Zolotek Virtual Hosting you are able to use
our Control Panel to: restart the Interchange server, reconfigure any of your Interchange
catalogues, create new Interchange catalogues, create new mail and mail/alias accounts,
and several other things. "Virtual host" web space is excellent if you do not want the hassle or
responsibility of administering and maintaining a server, but just want to get on
with running your web pages and making a profit from your Interchange shop.

Virtual Private Servers
The "virtual server" is more expensive, because you do not share any of the
resources within your server. You are able to change the configuration setup of
any of the server software, install new or different software if needed, upgrade or
customise your own Interchange installation, and choose to take over some of the normal
administration and maintenance tasks yourself. We still provide
support for you as part of our "Managed Hosting" service of course, and do this
transparently while you get on with running your e-business.
This is perfect for a busy shop which needs more control and privacy. You may
also use a "virtual server" to re-sell web space and Interchange shops to your
own customers. You may brand our Control Panel in your own theme, install
several domains, with or without SSL, into Apache, and do virtually whatever you
like within your own "virtual server".
A "virtual server" is basically a software implementation of a hardware
dedicated server, implemented in its own "sandbox" which is completely separated
from all other virtual servers and the root server. The main difference, from
the user's point of view, is that
you get virtually all the advantages of a dedicated server, but at a fraction
of the price and without the headaches. You also get more bandwidth in a "virtual
server", which may be important for a shop which will become busy.

We use exclusively Linux servers, with Apache, Postfix, Courier IMAP, VM-pop3d, ProFTPD,
OpenSSH, Perl, PHP, Python, Rexx and other open source products. We neither use nor offer
any Microsoft products at all because of their security risks.
The menu bar on the left takes you to all of our hosting packages, as well as
a page comparing all packages together.
